Welcome back to another week of Teacher'sコーナ!
Today we'll talk about a childhood game, I used to enjoy in the 90's! Have you ever heard of pogs? In Japanese, it's called メンコ!
I used to play it with my siblings and friends! We would play for keeps too! In the states, all the pogs I came across were circular in shape. They were illustrated with comics or tv cartoons and other cool illustrations. The most valuable ones at the time were the foil pogs!
Often, each person had multiple slammers that were used to "slam" the pogs! They were often made of plastic, rubber, or even metal. The heavier the better! It was great pastime during recess or after school. Unfortunately, they were banned in schools some time later because they became a distraction.
It certainly is nostalgic when it comes to pogs. It reminds me of my elementary school days.
