This year we decided to do something a little different and went along with the traditional Japanese holiday, Tanabata.
We offered to all of our students to write their wishes on a tanzaku in either English or Japanese. Almost all of our students wanted to write down their wishes. Some of the students wrote them in English and others asked us to translate what they wanted written down.
Some of the wishes were really heartwarming and uplifting. While others were very interesting. Some of my favorites from the students were, I wish for COVID to go away or I wish to pass my junior high school/high school entrance exams. Some interesting ones I came across were wishes to have longer video game time or to be a princess.
All in all, it was a great miniature event for the school considering the circumstances.
Thank you to all the students who helped make our Tanabata special!
