アメリカではゲームセンターは人気ですか？

Arcades were very popular in the United States during the 1980s and 1990s. Many shopping malls had an arcade, and children and teenagers spent hours playing games with their friends. Popular games included Pac-Man, Street Fighter II, and Mortal Kombat.

ゲームセンターは1980年代から1990年代にかけて、アメリカでとても人気がありました。多くのショッピングモールにはゲームセンターがあり、子どもやティーンエイジャーは友達と何時間もゲームをして過ごしていました。人気のゲームには『パックマン』、『ストリートファイターII』、『モータルコンバット』などがありました。

Today, arcades are much less common because many people play games at home on consoles, computers, or smartphones. However, arcades have not disappeared. You can still find them in family entertainment centers, bowling alleys, tourist areas, and some shopping malls.

現在では、家庭用ゲーム機やパソコン、スマートフォンでゲームをする人が増えたため、ゲームセンターは以前ほど多くありません。しかし、ゲームセンターがなくなったわけではありません。今でもファミリー向けの娯楽施設、ボウリング場、観光地、一部のショッピングモールなどで見つけることができます。

Some modern arcades also serve food and drinks. These are called barcades, and they are popular with adults. Large entertainment centers like Dave & Buster's and Round1 also attract families and groups of friends.

最近では、食事や飲み物を楽しめるゲームセンターもあります。こうした施設は「バーケード（Barcade）」と呼ばれ、大人に人気があります。また、Dave & Buster's や Round1 のような大型アミューズメント施設は、家族連れや友達同士のグループにも人気です。

Compared with Japan, the United States has far fewer arcades. In Japan, game centers are still a common part of everyday life. In the U.S., visiting an arcade is usually a special activity rather than something people do every week.

日本と比べると、アメリカにはゲームセンターの数がずっと少ないです。日本ではゲームセンターは今でも身近な存在ですが、アメリカではゲームセンターへ行くことは、毎週するような日常的なことではなく、特別なお出かけとして楽しまれることが多いです。
