Hello everyone!

Today we'll be comparing the end of the school year between America and Japan. It's a bit long, but there are translations.

In America, the school year usually ends in late May or June, and students begin a long summer vacation. The end of the school year is often filled with fun activities, graduation ceremonies, and classroom parties. Students may clean their classrooms, sign yearbooks, and say goodbye to their teachers and friends before summer break begins. Many students feel excited because they have about two months of vacation.

アメリカでは、学校年度は通常5月下旬から6月に終わり、生徒たちは長い夏休みに入ります。学年末には、楽しい活動や卒業式、クラスパーティーなどが行われることがよくあります。生徒たちは教室を掃除したり、イヤーブックにメッセージを書いたり、夏休み前に先生や友達に別れを告げたりします。多くの生徒は、約2か月の休みがあるため、とても楽しみにしています。

In Japan, the school year is different because it ends in March and begins in April. The end of the school year is connected to spring and the cherry blossom season. Japanese schools also hold graduation ceremonies, but they are often more formal and emotional than in America. Students usually clean the school carefully as part of their daily responsibilities, and many schools do not have large classroom parties. Summer vacation in Japan is also shorter than in America, usually lasting about one month.

日本では、学校年度は3月に終わり、4月に始まるため、アメリカとは異なります。学年末は春や桜の季節と結びついています。日本の学校でも卒業式が行われますが、アメリカよりも形式的で感動的なことが多いです。生徒たちは日常の役割として学校を丁寧に掃除し、多くの学校では大きなクラスパーティーは行われません。日本の夏休みはアメリカより短く、通常は約1か月です。

Both countries celebrate the end of the school year as an important milestone, but the atmosphere and traditions are quite different. America’s school year ending is often casual and focused on summer fun, while Japan’s is usually more formal and connected to new beginnings in spring.

どちらの国でも、学年末は大切な節目として祝われますが、その雰囲気や伝統はかなり異なります。アメリカの学年末はカジュアルで夏の楽しみに重点が置かれることが多い一方、日本ではより形式的で、春の新しい始まりと結びついています。
