Hello! It's been a while! Welcome back to part 7 of the 和製英語シリーズ ! Here are some more words that speakers from America will not understand.
こんにちは！お久しぶりです！和製英語シリーズ第7回へようこそ！アメリカ人が理解できない単語をいくつかご紹介します。
パクチー
パプリカ
ピーマン
パイン
マロン
ラフランス

パクチー → coriander / cilantro
In America, we generally call it cilantro, but some people do say coriander. 「パクチー」is from the Thai language.
アメリカでは一般的にcilantroと呼びますが、corianderと言う人もいます。「パクチー」はタイ語に由来します。

パプリカ → bell pepper
This vegetable is called a bell pepper. If you're talking about a specific color, you would say a red bell pepper or a yellow bell pepper. The name 「パプリカ」comes from the Hungarian word for peppers.
パプリカはベルペッパーと呼ばれます。特定の色を指す場合は、a red bell pepper 赤ピーマンまたはa yellow bell pepper黄ピーマンと言います。「パプリカ」という名前は、ハンガリー語で「ピーマン」を意味する言葉に由来しています。

ピーマン → green pepper
In American, we call these green peppers. Basically it is an unripe bell pepper. According to my research the word 「ピーマン」comes from the French word 「piment」which means pepper.
アメリカでピーマンはグリーンペッパーと呼びます。基本的には、熟していないbell pepper（ピーマン）
のことです。調べたところ、「ピーマン」という言葉は、フランス語で「ピメント」（コショウ）を意味する言葉に由来しているようです。

パイン → pineapple
This one is kind of tricky. Some people call this fruit 「パイン」which would not be understood by people in America. But if it is called 「パインアップル」, people will understand it.
これはちょっと難しいですね。この果物を「パイン」と呼ぶ人もいますが、アメリカ人には通じないでしょう。でも、「パイナップル」と呼べば通じるはずです。
5.
マロン → chestnut
In America, these are called chestnuts. 「マロン」comes from the French language.
アメリカで栗はchestnutsです。「マロン」はフランス語に由来します。
6.
ラフランス → pear
In America, we just call them pears. 「ラフランス」is the name, a French person gave to the pear to praising that it represented the country of France.
アメリカでは洋ナシを単に「pears（梨）」と呼びます。「ラ・フランス」は、フランス人がフランスを代表する洋ナシとして賞賛して付けた名前です。
