Many people have the image that all Americans own guns. The truth of the matter is, we don't all own guns.

I was raised in a hunting family. My mother didn't, but my father and my uncles all hunted.

With that being said though, not families hunt or have guns. According to my research, 30-40% of Americans own a gun or live with someone who owns a gun.

It's not 100%, but why is the percentage of gun ownership so high?

Simply said, at the beginning of colonial America, people wanted a way to protect themselves from an abusive government or from people who couldn't be controlled by the government. The rest is history.
