Is it really here? What signs have you noticed so far? I, for one, have noticed the warmer weather. Not too long from now, the first flowers of the season will start blossoming. We'll start seeing more birds. Trees will start budding. And fields of yellow grass will give way to new spurts of green growth.

During this time of the year, we all look forward to many things. For students and teachers, this marks the transition from one school to another. For college students, it means the final transition in life from student to worker. For gardeners, it is the time to replant or prep the garden for spring flowers.

For me, I look forward to the new growing season for vegetables and the first fishing trip to the mountains. I also look forward to foraging for food. Some of my favorite spring foods are フキノトウ、タケノコ、and タラの芽.

How about for you? What does spring mean to you? Do you do any foraging?
