Christmas is quite different when you compare it to the States. Generally it is a time of the year for family to spend time together and time to catch up for those who live far apart from each other.
Most families who celebrate Christmas, open presents on Christmas Day and just enjoy the company of each other throughout the day. Christmas dinner is usually very similar to Thanksgiving dinner. I would say that most people either have a roast ham or a turkey for the winter holidays. Also the normal sides, such as mashed potatoes, stuffing, casseroles, and pies and baked sweets are made too.
If you live in snow country, some families go sledding or make snowmen on during the Christmas Holidays. If the weather is very bad, most people just sit back and relax and watch Christmas movies broadcasted on TV. Others will play family board games too.
